Privacy Policy
Evolith is a voice notes app that records your voice, transcribes it into text entirely on your device, and saves the result as plain Markdown files in a location you choose. This policy explains how Evolith handles your information.
The short version
- We do not collect any data. Evolith has no servers, no account, and no sign-in.
- Everything happens on your device. Your voice is transcribed on-device using Apple's on-device speech recognition.
- We never see your recordings, transcripts, or notes.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect your data.
Microphone and speech recognition
Evolith uses the microphone to record your voice and Apple's speech recognition to turn it into text. This processing happens on your device. Your audio is not sent to us or to any third party, and the audio is not stored after it has been transcribed — only the text you choose to save is written to a file.
Where your notes are stored
You choose where Evolith saves your notes:
- On this iPhone — stored locally in the app's folder.
- iCloud Drive — stored in your own Apple iCloud account.
- A folder you select (for example, an Obsidian vault) — stored where you point it.
In every case the notes are your files, in your storage. We have no access to them. If you use iCloud Drive, syncing is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; we do not receive your data.
Data we collect
None. Evolith does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. We do not use analytics or advertising services, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
Data retention and deletion
Because your notes are ordinary files that you own, you are always in control:
- Delete individual notes inside Evolith, or in the Files app / Obsidian.
- Deleting the app removes its local app data. Notes you saved to iCloud Drive or to a folder you selected remain in that location until you delete them there.
Children's privacy
Evolith is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Purchases
The current version of Evolith is free and does not process payments. If paid features are added in the future, purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store; we do not receive your payment details.
Future features
If Evolith later offers an optional feature that sends audio to a server for higher-accuracy transcription, that feature will be strictly opt-in, clearly labeled, and this policy will be updated before it becomes available. Your audio will never be sent off your device without your explicit consent.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
